What is Saffracin™?
Saffracin™ is an ingredient extracted from the stigma of saffron (Crocus sativus L.), with the content of the key active compounds crocin and safranal standardized by HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography).
It is produced through an exclusive partnership with a Middle East manufacturing partner (Samanik Salamat Gostar Co.), and content levels are controlled through a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis (CoA). Crocins are specified at 35.0 to 37.0% and safranal at 0.10% or higher (HPLC), and only the saffron stigma is used as raw material.
Mechanisms of action under clinical study
Crocin and safranal, the active compounds of saffron, are being studied for activity through multiple mechanisms, including dopamine and norepinephrine reuptake, NMDA receptors and serotonin pathways.
This is supported by 15 clinical trials in 16 papers covering seven indications, including ADHD, depression and Alzheimer’s disease.
